Forever the King by ArtXtreme101 Forever the King by ArtXtreme101
I wanted to try a render without people in it, so here it is!
Made in DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro and rendered in LuxRender/Reality 2.5.
Tech Info: A mesh light is to the right and the skull was brought down to 8000 glossiness. The crown was just a lot of experimenting.

And I thought it was a real photograph... this is amazing..

any advice for a newbie in 3D modelling on what software to use or mix in order to have a realistic result. I'm using Cinema 4D Studio R12, I did a lot of experimenting and I still have a lot to learn.. :)

Haha thanks! Cinema 4D? Wow! I'm not even to that level! DAZ Studio is one of the easiest 3d animation software out there. With DAZ you don't do (for me any ways) any modeling...it's more about arranging. :)

Haha thank you! DOF is something that is a lot harder to explain than it actually is to do. The DOF in DAZ Studio is very similar to DOF in a camera. My suggestion would be play around with some of the DOF dials in DAZ Studio. Here's the best explanation I can give and sorry if it's a little confusing:
The Focal Length is like zooming in from where the camera already is. Once you've done that, the next thing you do is turn on depth of field. Then switch your view to perspective and select your camera in the Scene's tab. It should show your camera emitting a white lined ray. After you've done that you want to change you Focal Distance till you reach your subject. In most cases, you usually have to lower it. Once the Focal Distance box reaches your subject you can move on to F/Stop. F/Stop changes how much things are in the background are in focus. If you have a low F/Stop, the subject will be the only thing clearly visible. If you have a high F-Stop the subject will remain in focus and you will also be able to make out more of the background.
